As parents we want our children to thrive, be happy and fulfil their potential. It can be very painful and overwhelming when children or adolescents start to struggle, perhaps due to mental health problems, neurodiversity challenges, or social and behavioural struggles.
I work with one or both parents to empower you to become the best resource possible for your children, whatever their age or challenge. Face-to-face or online coaching sessions are typically held fortnightly, and parents may be in an ongoing relationship or co-parenting.
Most mainstream parenting approaches and mental health treatments direct attention to changing the child, unfortunately this intense child focus can create additional difficulties.
Instead, we offer an alternative approach. Grounded in over 50 years of Bowen family systems research and utilising the practical and accessible Parent Hope Project programme, we assist parents in shifting their focus away from attempting to fix or change their child. Instead, we encourage them to invest their energies in what they can control as parents. This shift opens new hopeful pathways for transformation.
We know that more effective parent leaders, who are calmer and more thoughtful, can be the most valuable asset for their children's mental health and well-being. Working together, our aim is to restore your parent hope and confidence, through sharing new ideas and jointly discovering different ways you can interact with your children to promote their growth and maturity.
Building your capacity to observe and reflect on your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours can transform the relationship interaction style between you and your child, a key factor influencing child and adolescent well-being.
Strengthening your ability to calm your personal reactivity and manage your own emotions, can positively impact your children’s behaviours and encourage their ability to self-soothe their own emotions.

Deliberating building positive connection with your child without invading their space can unlock greater problem-solving skills, independence and resilience.
